We used to play a game in David Howell’s seminars to find the most obsure sounding book title on his shelf.
I remember “Socialism in Provence – 1871-1914” was always a favorite.
Oddly enough its author, Tony Judt, isn’t obscure at all.
Clearly he was following the sensible research strategy of studying something in a place where the weather is not bad at all.
