This gives me the courage to take up a project I’ve been mulling over for years: to do for the cat vs dog question what Parfit has done for the deontology vs consequentialism question. To provide an extended argument, that is, leading to the conclusion that what we have held to be mutually exclusive positions are, mutatis mutandis, complementary aspects of a single moral truth.
