Where I live, in rural Aragón, you can, in spring, see large numbers of birds of prey circling about the fields. But as summer wears on, their numbers appear to become fewer.

Is this for the mundane reason that as the crops grow, it becomes harder for the birds to spot the mice running about the fields, and therefore they tend to go off and look for prey elsewhere?</description>
