Hypothesis: the confounding variable is poverty. Germans in poor areas are more likely to be neo-Nazis. Germans in poor areas are also less likely to be taken in by Daily Mail-esque hysteria about GMOS and kick up a fuss, as a) their political clout is lower cos they’re poor b) they have more important issues on their mind than the latest science-scare.
