I was coming round to the view that it was riders like Mayo and Moreau and maybe Valverde who weren't on drugs, and in their failures we might be seeing the problems of competing against the doped-up riders. But Mayo's positive test (or, as the press always seems to report, "non-negative" test) knocks that view for six.</description>

		<description>Might this show just how many of the peleton (or at least the team leaders) are on drugs? I remember the 2004 Olympics backfired somewhat with their attempt to hold the shot put events at Olympia. The gold medal winning woman failed a drugs test, but so did the person who came last. What does that suggest about those in the middle?</description>
